Safeguarding Policy

Safeguarding Children

At The Kings Road Nursery we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our children (Children Act 2004). We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice.
Equality of Opportunity Policy

Equality of Opportunity

We will ensure that Kings Road is fully inclusive in meeting the needs of all children. We recognise that children and their families come from diverse backgrounds. All families have needs and values that arise from their social and economic, ethnic and cultural or religious backgrounds.
Partnership with Parents Policy

Partnership with Parents

The Kings Road Nursery recognises that parents are children's first, most important and enduring educators. We seek to work in partnership with parents during the child's most formative years so as to have the maximum possible impact on their development and learning. Any successful partnership needs to have a two-way exchange of information, knowledge and expertise. We seek to create a harmonious, comfortable environment where parents feel welcome and nursery staff are conscientious and motivated.
Early Years Funding Policy

Early Years Funding

This policy is written, and EEF delivered, within statutory and local authority guidelines which may be updated from time to time. The funding for Children at our setting is delivered by supporting both parental access and the future sustainability of the business.
SEN Policy

SEN

This policy is in place to outline the aims, principles and strategies to ensure effective provision of children with special educational needs within The Kings Road Nursery. It provides the framework for the identification of and provision for children with special educational needs and additional needs and will have regard to the SEN code of practice and equality act 2010.
GDPR Policy

Privacy Statement

The Kings Road Nursery is a provider of a service that collects personal information about children and their families.
The staff employed by The Kings Road Nursery will collect the necessary information. We collect and use information under the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (2017), Ofsted, the Data protection Act 1998 and the GDPR (2018). It is both for contractual and emergency reasons

Admissions Policy

Admissions

We will work with parents or carers to establish an open and honest relationship. A child starting nursery will receive understanding and reassurance to assist settling. It is essential children feel happy and secure to enable them to play and learn successfully.
Behaviour Policy

Behaviour

The Kings Road Nursery aims to enable children to work towards self discipline and
self esteem in an atmosphere of mutual respect, to instil good behaviour through
example, praise and the reinforcement of positive actions. We support the children
by asking them if the choices they make are good or sad and discuss how these
affect us.
Anti-bullying Policy

Anti-bullying

The Kings Road Nursery aims to provide a safe, caring and friendly environment for the children. We will not tolerate any form of bullying in the nursery as it is unacceptable behaviour. The children are taught the Nursery rules on how to behave towards one another which should always be role modelled from the adults.
Snow Policy

Snow

In the event of disruption caused by heavy snow, the prime concern of the Nursery will always be the safety of the children and staff. The decision whether or not to send a child to Nursery, however, must be at the discretion of the parents, taking into account factors such as local road conditions and the availability of alternative childcare.
Complaints Policy

Complaints

We aim to provide the highest quality education and care for all of our children. We aim to offer a warm welcome to every child and family and to provide a supportive and caring environment within which all the children can learn and develop.

We believe children and parents are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt attention given to their needs and wishes. It is our intention to work in partnership with parents and the community generally and we welcome suggestions on our nursery.  We value parental partnership and your views, as this is important to us at The Kings Road Nursery.

Fundamental Prevent and British Values Policy

Fundamental British Values

Extremism is defined as the holding of extreme political or religious views. It is a vocal or active opposition to fundamental British Values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and the tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. Radicalisation is the process by which people come to support terrorism, violent extremism, and in some cases, to the participate in terrorist groups, which can mean leaving their country to pursue this. There has been a shift from Islamic concerns, more to Far-right extremism locally and the biggest threat is ‘Online Radicalisation’.
EYFS

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS supports the child’s inbuilt curiosity and desire to make sense of the world around them and helps them discover that learning is interesting and fun; this is vital if children are going to be keen learners for the rest of their lives.
Disease & Illness Policy

Disease & Illness

In order to clarify the situation regarding your child’s attendance at the Nursery during and following an infectious illness, please find attached a list of the recommended minimum periods of exclusion. Public Health England gives guidelines on infection control to schools and childcare settings.  Staff will only administer antibiotics and medication prescribed by the G.P. Any child given antibiotics must spend the first 24 hours at home. Calpol, Nurofen or any other analgesic given to a child prior to coming to nursery will not be admitted.
